Killingly, Conn - At approximately 12:38 a.m. on Sunday, August 13th, 2023, the Danielson Fire Department, along with the South Killingly Fire Department and KB Ambulance, were dispatched to the area of Providence Pike (Route 6) and Maple St, for a reported motorcycle accident.
On arrival, crews found a person down in the westbound lanes, apparently thrown from their motorcycle. As medical personnel discovered the extent of the victims injuries, a Hartford Healthcare LIFE STAR Air Ambulance was requested to a modified landing zone at Day Kimball Hospital, Putnam. LIFE STAR was forced to decline the mission due to aviation weather, but a UMass Memorial Life Flight helicopter was able to accept the mission, arriving at Day Kimball Hospital minutes after the ambulance. It is currently unclear if the victim was transported by Life Flight.
The accident is currently under investigation by the Connecticut State Police Troop D.
Agencies that responded, or were dispatched, included the Danielson Fire Department, South Killingly Fire Department, KB Ambulance, KB Ambulance’s QV Medic, Umass Memorial Life Flight, and the Connecticut State Police.
